NAEP 2011 Mathematics Results: 4th Grade

In 2009, Iowa had an average scale score of 243.  Six states had scores that were significantly higher and twenty-one states had scores that were not significantly different than Iowa’s score.

In 2011, Iowa’s average scale score is 243 and ten states have scores that are significantly higher:

  • Massachusetts (253),
  • New Hampshire (252),
  • Minnesota (249),
  • New Jersey (248),
  • Maryland (247),
  • Vermont (247),
  • Kansas (246),
  • Pennsylvania (246),
  • North Dakota (245), and
  • Virginia (245).

Sixteen states have scores that are not significantly different from Iowa’s: Colorado, Connecticut, Indiana, Kentucky, Maine, Missouri, Montana, North Carolina, Ohio, Rhode Island, South Dakota, Texas, Utah, Washington, Wisconsin, and Wyoming.
