I have only casually been following the stories regarding changes to the GED and was surprised to see that Iowa has its own, home-grown alternative high school equivalency exam–the HiSET–now in use by Iowa and ten other states.

Annie Murphy Paul’s post, Pen-And-Paper Notetaking Superior To Typing On A Laptop, is welcome news to me as, yes, I’m one of the increasingly few meeting attendees not fighting for a seat near the outlets.
